ASM File Name Alias
Alias names, or aliases, are intended to provide a more user-friendly means ofreferring to Oracle ASM files, rather than using the system-generated file names
Creating an Alias Name for an Oracle ASM File Name
SQL> alter diskgroup DG_TST_DATA add alias '+DG_TST_DATA/TST1T/datafile1.dbf' for '+DG_TST_DATA/TST1T/DATAFILE/system.261.987251371';
Diskgroup altered.
Renaming an Alias Name for an Oracle ASM File Name
SQL> alter diskgroup DG_TST_DATA rename alias '+DG_TST_DATA/TST1T/datafile1.dbf' to '+DG_TST_DATA/TST2T/datafile1.dbf';
Diskgroup altered.
Dropping an Alias Name for an Oracle ASM File Name
SQL> ALTER DISKGROUP DG_TST_DATA DROP ALIAS '+DG_TST_DATA/TST2T/datafile1.dbf';
Diskgroup altered.
Managing ASM Disk Group Directories
Oracle ASM disk groups contain a system-generated hierarchical directory structure for storing Oracle ASM files. If you want you can create a custome directory as well.Creating a Directory
SQL> ALTER DISKGROUP DG_TST_DATA ADD DIRECTORY '+DG_TST_DATA/orcl';
Diskgroup altered.
Renaming a Directory
SQL> ALTER DISKGROUP DG_TST_DATA RENAME DIRECTORY '+DG_TST_DATA/orcl' to '+DG_TST_DATA/test';
Diskgroup altered.
Dropping a Directory
SQL> ALTER DISKGROUP DG_TST_DATA drop DIRECTORY '+DG_TST_DATA/test';
Diskgroup altered.
