After connecting to target database using RMAN you can run show all to display the default RMAN configuration.
As you see Backup and recovery environment is preconfigured and the configuration is persistent across the restart

Modifying Default RMAN Configuration
To modify the RMAN configuration we need to use configuration command
For example
If I want to modify the SNAPSHOT CONTROLFILE NAME I can run do it as below
RMAN> CONFIGURE SNAPSHOT CONTROLFILE NAME TO ' /u01/data1/snapcf_ORCL1P.f';
new RMAN configuration parameters:
CONFIGURE SNAPSHOT CONTROLFILE NAME TO ' /u01/data1/snapcf_ORCL1P.f';
new RMAN configuration parameters are successfully stored
Lets take another example to disable CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP
RMAN> CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP OFF;
new RMAN configuration parameters:
CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP OFF;
new RMAN configuration parameters are successfully stored
RMAN> show all;
RMAN configuration parameters for database with db_unique_name ORCL1P are:
